What you can expect from EuroNova puppies:
Health:
Both parents will have had all the tests currently recommended by the NSDTR club and by the Kennel Club.
Mirabelle is optigen tested clear for PRA - CEA/CH. These are hereditary conditions found in tollers. A clear result means that she not affected nor a carrier of the eye diseases currently tested in tollers.
The sire will be a clear dog too, meaning that all puppies will be clear of those diseases by parentage.
Mirabelle will be x-rayed as part of the hip and elbow scoring schemes and we will chose a sire whose scores will help to continue to improve the average score of the breed.
All puppies will have a check up by our vet when they reach 8 weeks of age and are ready to go to their homes. All pups will be DNA profiled prior to going to their home as per the Accredited Breeder Scheme requirement.
Temperament:
Mirabelle is a very happy friendly dog, she is a lot of fun and displays the characteristic on/off switch. Whilst she is very keen during obedience classes, she thinks she is a lap dog at home. She is very well socialised to both people and dogs. She is confident yet really sweet.
We will be looking at the same soundness of temperament in the chosen sire.
Puppies will be socialised from a young age and will live in a home envirroment. The focus will be put on both socialisation and habituation. Puppies will be handled by adults daily and by supervised children.
They will be exposed to toys, smells, noises (including sound therapy to help them get familiar with sounds such as fireworks or crowds) and visual stimulations. We will be using both Early Neurological Stimulation and the rule of seven to ensure your puppy is well prepared to life.
We now have a cat and therefore the puppies will be socialised to our cat making it easier for you to introduce your puppy to your own cat if you have one.
Everything will be done for your puppy to be as best equiped as possible to grow into a really lovely adult dog.
Conformation:
Both parents will be bred only if they are fine examples of the breed and will complement each other beautifully.
Both the sire and dam will have flesh coloured noses, we can therefore expect all puppies to have flesh coloured noses too (the public often refer to them as "pink" noses).
What we expect from EuroNova owners:
Tollers are by no mean a beginner's dog. They are energetic intelligent dogs and make wonderfull pets. They are part of the gundog family and therefore need a LOT of physical and mental stimulation. They can be sensitive yet testing dogs, they will need a calm and consistent owner.
Tollers are highly motivated by food and toys and we recommend the use of positive training methods.
A toller needs to be exercised and stimulated on a daily basis and are no good at being left for long periods of time. An estimated 2 hours of exercise is recommended daily for an adult toller.
A multi-carer house, or a person working from home is required.
Tollers thrive when they form a strong bond with their owners, obedience/agility/gundog classes really help build a positive relationship with your dog. Stimulation and games at home will be an important part of your dog's daily activities: hiding toys, retrieving in the garden, having a good chew, learning tricks, your toller will want and need to do all of this and more.
You will need to invest time in training and building a bond with your toller but if you put in the effort, you will be rewarded 10 fold. You will be amazed how much your toller will bring to your life and how clever they are.
Tollers are ideal dogs to compete in agility, obedience and all sorts of doggy sports, although not a necessity, we would like potential owners to have an interest in these activities.
